Cooper Spring Nature Park Field Trip, November 20
Twenty people made the field trip and at least thirty grasses, Forbes, shrubs, and trees were identified. Highlights were Big Bluestem “Turkey Foot” blooms over our heads and tons of blooming Lometa Yellow Indian Grass. One of the amazing facts of the park is that there wasn’t a seed bank in the soil in 2008 and all of the grasses have been seeded. I can’t wait to see what the park will look like when we get some rains.
The group is checking out some of the huge Burr Oak trees in the park.
