Are you interested in taking a role in helping to keep our Chapter up and running? We currently have one Officer position, President-Elect, that needs to be filled. This position is vital, and if we do not have a President-Elect, then we will NOT have a Chapter next year. By assisting the President for a year, the President-Elect learns how our chapter runs and is prepared to take on the duties of the President. You do not need any specialized or advanced knowledge of native plants to become our President-Elect. As President-Elect, you will join a fantastic support system consisting of the President, the Secretary, the Treasurer, and past officers to guide you. To see a list of all the Committee Chairs and Ad Hoc Committees who will also provide support, please click here.
President-Elect Duties are:
1. Exercise the functions of the President during any absences or disability of the President.
2. Be responsible for developing more effective ways to publicize the Chapter to the public.
3. Be responsible for public relations, press releases, and for developing media and organizational contacts.
4. Help to define short- and long-range plans for the Chapter for the approval of the membership and shall actively work on implementing those goals.
5. May be assigned other duties by the President.
6. Become President upon expiration of the term of office of the President.
Please contact Susan Brotman, Volunteer Coordinator, at volunteernpsotaustin@gmail.com, or Claire Sorenson, President, at claire.sorenson@npsot.org if you are interested in becoming President-Elect, or if you simply want to know more about becoming involved in NPSOT’s Austin Chapter.
