February 21, 2023 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Please join us for our February Chapter Meeting where Debbie Kyrouac will be giving her presentation titled “Getting Your Native Landscape Ready For Spring”. This presentation will be in-person, but also presented on Zoom.
The program will focus on preparing your native landscape and gardens for the spring. It will also include some suggestions for digging and potting up extra plants to be used for the plant sales this year. A plant wish list will be on hand at the meeting as well as being posted on the website.
Debbie Kyrouac began her interest in plant taxonomy during her graduate work at Texas Tech Univ. She majored in Biology and Ecology and worked as a TA while completing her Masters degree. She taught Plant Taxonomy for 2 years and became very familiar with the native plants of the Texas panhandle. She and her family moved to San Antonio in 2009 where she took a job teaching Biology at Northeast Lakeview College and renewed her interest in local plants. More recently, she has expanded her interest in native plants of Texas through both NPSOT and the Texas Master Naturalists. Debbie is currently participating in numerous plant and butterfly survey projects at the Bracken Preserve, Guadalupe River State Park, the Heritage Museum garden and Madrone Trail pollinator garden. She also enjoys hours spent developing a native plant habitat on her own property.
