PLEASE NOTE NEW START TIME:
6 p.m. Chapter Meeting
6:30 p.m. Biological invasions and global insect decline: What can we learn from alien plant invasion?
Have you ever wondered how non-native plant species impact our environment?
Join us to find out how these alien plant species impact native insects and related arthropods and more. We will also discuss the importance of incorporating native plants in our landscape.
Dr. Adam Mitchell is an Assistant Professor of Entomology at Tarleton State University and serves as faculty sponsor of the Prairie Oaks Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists. Dr. Mitchell and his lab conducts research exploring how anthropogenic (or human-induced) disturbances affect arthropod biodiversity and ecosystem services, including disturbances from climate change, invasive species, urbanization, and pollution. Dr. Mitchell’s past research has included exploring arthropod food webs in response to plant invasions in Texas and in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US.
Our meetings are open to the public, please feel free to share with others.
