State Board Meetings

Quarterly State Board meetings are the third Saturday of January, April and July, unless the the Board sets a different date. The fourth quarter board meeting is held during the annual fall symposium.

Board meetings start at 10:00 a.m. and usually end between 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. Voting members of the board are the state officers and chapter leaders (or chapter representatives). A quorum consists of at least five elected state officers and three chapter leaders/representatives. Board meetings are open to all NPSOT members.

Date (2012)
Saturday, January 21: Ft Worth Botanic Garden
Saturday, April 21: Fredericksburg
Saturday, July 21: TBD
Saturday, October 20: TBD

Please note that our first quarter meeting will be held at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens in Fort Worth. We want to encourage all of you to attend or send a delegate, if possible, as we have important business to conduct including the approval of the annual budget and a review of our Executive Board plans for 2012. For each board meeting this year, we would like to include an educational component, and as such, in January, we will take a tour of the newly opened facilities of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT).

The tentative meeting schedule is as follows:
10:00am – 11:30am  State Board meeting begins
11:45am – 12:15pm   Break for lunch to be provided on-site for all courtesy of the North Central Chapter- MUST RSVP TO PAM MIDDLETON (state@npsot.org)!
12:30pm – 1:30pm    Tour Brit facilities
2:00pm – 3:30pm     Conclude State Board meeting. We will make every effort to adjourn at the appointed time.

If you have agenda items to submit, please send them to Pam Middleton, State Coordinator, at state@npsot.org by January 6th.

Also, for planning purposes, please RSVP for you or your delegate’s attendance to Pam by January 13th.

If you are planning to travel to Fredericksburg to attend a state board meeting and need overnight accommodations, you can visit the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce website. Fredericksburg is a popular tourist destination, so we recommend that reservations be made as far in advance as possible.
