UPCOMING EVENTS IN MAY

The first and probably the most important is Gardenfest-Saturday, May 12th.  This is an event sponsored by  the Amarillo Botanical Gardens where organizations/businesses can set up tables to sell plants, shrubs, etc.  This is our only fund raiser of the year, so we need to make it a good one.  The monies raised from this fund raiser will allow us to continue to meet at the library throughout the year.

Some of the plants that we will offer for sale are Antelope Horn Milkweed, Cactus, Desert Willow, American Beauty, Maximillian Sunflower, various tree seedlings and perhaps some Chocolate Flower and Gayfeather.

We will also have some of the “Grow Native” buttons that I showed everyone at an earlier meeting.

We will need some help.  We anticipate setting up around 8:00 AM and breaking down around 2:00 PM. (Unless of course we sell out early!)  If anyone can help, please let Judy or I know if possible, otherwise just show up and we will put you to work.  Gardenfest will take place at the Botanical Gardens out at Medipark.

Our monthly meeting this month will be on Tuesday, May 15th at the SW Branch Library at 7:00PM.  Our guest speaker will be Dan Porter, a professor of biology at Amarillo College.  He will be talking about insect galls.  We hope to see you there!
