State Board Meetings

NPSOT state board meetings are held quarterly – in January, April, July, and October, usually on the third Saturday. All members are welcome to attend.

The October meeting will be held at Texas Woman’s University in Denton on October 9 in conjunction with the 2010 Symposium.

Fellows Award

The Benny Simpson Fellows Award is given for service and work by a NPSOT member for the enrichment of the Society at the state, regional or chapter level. It is intended to recognize work within the organization. One award may be given for each thousand (or parts of a thousand) members in the Society as of December 31 of the preceding year (for 2010 this would be 2 awards).

Selection for Fellows Awards is by direct vote of the membership, to those individual(s) receiving the most ballots, except that no award shall be made in the event that the top nominee(s) receives fewer than ten votes. A ballot for the 2010 awards will be provided in the next edition of NPSOT News or you can download one here. Ballots must be received or postmarked by September 15 to be counted.

Eligible members will have been a member continuously for at least 10 years as of December 31, 2009 and have not previously won this award. The link below will generate a list of eligible candidates.

Chapter Plant Sales

NPSOT holds a Class M Floral License from the Texas Department of Agriculture.  The permit allows chapters to legally hold plant sales, as long as certain procedures are followed. NPSOT pays for the annual license and for the permits to be used for each individual plant sale.  Check the LeaderWeb site for forms and instructions.

Collections Policy

A policy on plant collection has been developed and adopted by the Board of the Native Plant Society of Texas, in response to many requests from our chapters.  Read it here.

2010 Symposium

The 2010 symposium will celebrate our 30th anniversary  at Texas Woman’s University in Denton on October 7-10.   Check here for the latest information.

NPSOT Strategic Plan

The NPSOT state board contracted with a consultant in 2008 to help develop a strategic plan and long range goals. Here is the final plan, which was accepted by the state board at its October 18, 2008 meeting.
